Description

After one month aboard the R.L.S. Legacy, Jane Porter had become accustomed to her position as 'nurse' to the crew. Many things had happened in those few weeks. Several battles had occured and even a sneak attack late one evening. Jane had been in the Captain's office for the first time discussing the next port they would be docking at. Jane and the other survivors (or prisoners of war) of the Roger were to be dropped off there. The English officers were to go to prison and Jane, since she was a civilian, would be allowed to go free.

Captain Amelia, Jane had learned her name soon after boarding the Legacy from Dr. Doppler, stressed the importance that Jane keep a low profile. There was no telling what could happen in war. Despite being an enemy of England, the captain showed concern for Jane's well being and expressed her hope that she would find her father in Venice. That is, if her father were still there waiting.

Thats when it happened. A muffled boom and a small flash of light came from the window. In a split second Amelia jumped onto Jane and crashed to the ground, narrowly avoiding a six pound cannon ball come hurtling through the window exactly where they were just standing. Amelia let the debris fall before lifting herself asking "Are you all-"

The both took a breath. Their faces so close to one another neither of them could breath again as they stared into each other's eyes. It seemed the air itself were balancing on a pin, if either of them moved time would start up again.

The sound of heavy footsteps approaching the door changed that and before Jane could take another breath Captain Amelia was already helping her to her feet as Mr. Arrow barged in, asking if they were alright. The captain didn't hesitate a second to give orders to turn the ship about and fire back at their attackers. It amazed her how quickly the feline had recovered from the moment they shared seconds before. Ms. Porter on the other hand stood still, having trouble collecting herself.

Amelia opened the door to leave, stopping momentarily to look back at Jane. They felt each other through their eyes, each searching for confirmation that neither had dreamed what just happened. It did and the Captain gave her a look that said 'later' before heading to the bridge.

It would be another week before the Legacy defeated their attackers. Neither Jane or Amelia attempted to speak to one another. Was it all too confusing? Jane was left to her books, scrolling down the pages but not really reading. As for the Captain, Jane assumed she was too busy to be triffled with something so minor.

It was just the opposite, however, Amelia kept close to her duties to help distract from her thoughts. Never before had she ever been so unfocused and what's worse is that Mr. Arrow noticed it. Her first officer never missed anything for that matter.

The evening before the Legacy reached port, Amelia finally decided to call upon her new nurse. Jane entered the room, it was clear she was nervous, and Amelia felt relieved to know she wasn't the only one. Moments passed before either of them spoke and surprisingly it was Jane who talked first.

"You called for me, Captain?"

Amelia cleared her throat. "Yes."

Another moment passed.

"Port." Amelia began. "We will reach port by O- nine hundred hours tomorrow morning." She said.

"Thats good news."

"You should be able to find transport to Venice there."

"Wonderful."

"I- oh Tish Tosh!" The Captain took a few steps closer to Jane. "We both know why were talking right now and it has nothing to do with war or venice, or any other flim flam." They were standing no more than an arm's length apart now. "What was that last week? After the cannon ball crashed through here?"

"I- I don't know."

"I think you do."

"Do you? If you do then tell me! I can't make sense of it!" Jane felt her voice choke. Were they really considering what her heart was telling her? Could her heart by lying? How was it possible to even feel this way for... Jane couldn't say it. Not even in her thoughts. It was something she had been wrestling with all week to no avail. Amelia, however, had finally come to grips with it and moved a little closer to the brunette in front of her.

There was only one chance and Amelia knew that Jane was still hesitant about the idea. She would have to guide her through it, Amelia prayed that she could. "Jane." The Captain said, realizing that this was the first time she had spoken the other woman's given name, instead of addressing her as 'Ms. Porter.'

"Can you let yourself trust me?" Amelia asked.

"Wha-" Amelia put her fingers on Jane's lips.

"And not say a word?" Amelia asked, her eyes showing sincerity that Jane could not deny. Slowly, the brunette nodded. Amelia closed the gap between them. The next few moments were critical and the feline took extra care with each move she made. It was like a jaguar playing with a doe, if she made a move too fast or bared claws for the smallest of seconds, the doe would fright and run.

Amelia's fingers were still on Jane's lips, she let them slide down to her chin and rest there, then went to cup Jane's cheek. They could hear each other's breathing. The air was thick with tension as Amelia closed the distance between their faces. Her green eyes never leaving Jane's blue ones. The Captain tested the waters, and let her lips brush softly against Jane's. There was an intake of breath, but thankfully, the brunette didn't take a step back. Amelia tried again. Then once more until her lips had pressed lightly against Jane's. She let the kiss end, then kissed again. It was utter silence in the room besides their breathing and the dull sounds of the sea outside the window. This time, the tention in the air melted and both women moaned quietly as Jane kissed Amelia back.

The waters have been tested and now Amelia lead the way with more passionate kisses, pulling Jane's waiste closer and was pleased to find that, although timid, Ms. Porter's hands had fount their way to rest around her neck.

A beautiful place to go, and with her lips kissing and trailing down the side of Jane's face, Amelia turned the brunette around to hold her from behind. Undoing the buttons on Jane's dress was easy work compared to a uniform and revealed just enough to get at the base of Jane's neck. Jane protested the removal but a hush from the captain stiffled any more complaint. Amelia searched with her lips for, Jane moaned, the sweet spot. Amelia had found herself to be especially sensitive on the right collarbone and knew there had to be such a place on her partner as well. The feline continued to caress the area and felt Jane's breathing quicken.

Amelia bit softly on the sweet spot, sending shivers through Jane's spine. Then she bit hard, just enough to leave teethmarks but not enough to draw blood. Jane gasped but didn't complain. The rest of the yellow dress fell button after button.

From this point on, the night was theirs.
